Any Tips for Starting a Blog with Wordpress? Need Help!

I just started blogging. I’ve got hosting, posted some content, and created social media accounts for my website.

I’m in the process of setting up my website and read that Wordpress is better than other platforms like Squarespace or Wix.

I learn better by doing and watching. Can anyone suggest creators, guides, or courses that would help me quickly learn how to edit my Wordpress site the way I want? I don’t want to learn everything, just enough to create a good looking site and be able to fix basic problems that might come up.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I started learning with WPBeginner’s free articles and their YouTube channel over 10 years ago. Their guides are super beginner-friendly. You should check them out.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’m new too and this looks really helpful.

I stay away from website builders like Wix. If you decide to switch hosts later, you’ll have to rebuild your site. With Wordpress, you can just move the database and theme to a new host without starting over.

I recommend using the GeneratePress Wordpress theme with their marketer blog template. It’s quick and easy for a nice looking blog. You can find plenty of customization tutorials on YouTube. If you want even more options, try the Elementor plugin with Astra or any compatible theme. You can find tutorials on that too.

When I was learning, I focused on solving my problems rather than following any one creator. But one of the best creators on YouTube for me was @Websitelearners. I hope you like them too. Go watch their stuff and let me know your thoughts.

Wordpress is great because it’s yours. With over 60,000 plugins and 15,000+ themes, you can do almost anything with it. I recommend installing the free GeneratePress theme. If you want more features, buy GeneratePress One. It gives you access to a template library with lots of options, and you can easily customize the design. GeneratePress is fast, so your site will perform better in search results too.

I’m in the same boat, working on an ebook while my blog is still a work-in-progress. I used a mix of YouTube, Skillshare, and other sources to get to a draft, but it was confusing at first. I ended up using the Kadence AI theme, which was really easy and made a great looking, functional site in no time. Still, the trial and error helped me understand a lot, even if I’m still learning.

Try using daily prompts to attract subscribers to your blog.

Thanks again to everyone! I’m new to all of this, and your advice has been really helpful.
