Has anyone here been featured on Opera News? If so, what email do you use to contact them? My site has been featured there for a while, and I used to get performance reports every few months, but it’s been very quiet lately. My contact person hasn’t replied in over a month, even though they used to respond in just a few days. Any advice?
Hi! I’m new to blogging. I don’t think I’m a news blogger exactly since I don’t do breaking news. I try to focus on giving stories a different angle instead of just reporting them. I mostly post updates, tech news, and some entertainment stuff.
I haven’t seen many news bloggers in this forum, so I’m not sure how to drive more traffic to my site because it’s really low.
I know this isn’t related to your question, but I’d appreciate any advice you can share.

For news bloggers, it’s hard to spend a lot of time tweaking SEO because things need to be fast. Social media is your best bet for driving traffic. Make sure your site is present on all major platforms and use them to funnel visitors. Even though some ad networks don’t like social media traffic, getting a lot of it can help boost your Google rankings over time.

I blog about news too! My site focuses on Chicago and nearby areas. I’m pretty new to this as well, so I’m still figuring things out. Let’s connect sometime and share ideas!

That sounds great! My Twitter info is on my profile, so feel free to message me there. Or just DM me here, though I’m not on this forum very often.

I’ve been thinking about starting a news blog for a while but didn’t have the time. I’m hoping to get started soon though!
News blogs can be very time-consuming because things become old news quickly, sometimes within hours. Make sure you’re ready to commit before jumping in.

That’s exactly why I’m waiting until I have more time. I’d love to connect with experienced bloggers to collaborate when I start.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I’m happy to help.

You’re right, and I didn’t stick with Mediavine. Here’s why: Mediavine focuses on U.S. traffic. If my audience shifts toward Indian readers, for example, they’d remove me from the program.
I live in a city of 7 million people, and local content performs really well here. I’ve written about cultural events, local history, and even a tribute to a local actor—it all gets tons of views because people share it so much.
Even though Mediavine pays better, I prefer reaching a larger audience. For an Indian blogger, $100 can make a big difference, so I focus on quantity over ad network restrictions.
