Do these brands care about SEO like link-building, or are they mainly about big brand campaigns and advertising? I’d love to hear your insights on this.
Absolutely. Gucci, for example, has to keep their site updated and optimized for all the countries they operate in. Even a brand that well-known still has to handle technical SEO, content updates, and things like TikTok SEO or social media. They spend a lot on it for sure.
Yes, but it’s more PR-focused than the way people on this forum usually talk about SEO.

I’ve mentioned before that LVMH and other big brands hire agencies and in-house SEO teams for this.

I’ve worked with these types of brands, and yes, they do focus on SEO, but not like smaller businesses. If you check their websites, you’ll see good titles, clean URLs, and easy navigation. But they don’t need to go all out since they have what I call the ‘five pillars of SEO’ built in:
Quality
Uniqueness
Authority
Relevance
Trust
Luxury brands already come with a lot of quality and authority in their image, so they don’t need as much SEO as other businesses.
@Magdalina
Thanks for the detailed answer. Do you know if they also do off-site SEO like link-building?

They don’t really need to focus on link-building. Big brands get links naturally through PR and their reputation. PR budgets are huge, and they don’t have to go around asking for links. Plus, their content is usually top-notch, and everything they do is to maintain their brand image and help their customers.
Once a brand is big enough, link-building isn’t as important. They focus more on brand and reputation management.
I work on some local sites for these big brands. The global team usually handles technical SEO, but we local teams work on titles and content. We mostly use SEO data for planning paid campaigns rather than standalone SEO work. We don’t buy backlinks, but our PR team shares product news with links. Competing with big e-commerce sites to rank for our brand name is a bit challenging.
@SophyGenesis
Makes sense.
They do some SEO, but it’s not a primary focus like in certain other industries. These brands have strong recognition, which is already a big ranking advantage.
Luxury brands are already big in their fields, so they focus more on brand marketing. Plus, Google gives them an advantage in search results just because they’re well-known.
Yes, they do run global SEO programs with agencies and large budgets. I work with one and know it firsthand.
They probably do, but mostly when launching new collections. They focus more on working with influencers than SEO.
These brands already have a loyal customer base, so they naturally get clicks, which helps with SEO without needing much effort.

This doesn’t really answer the question.
@Alex
A lot of answers here aren’t really on point, to be honest.

>SEO and lessors efforts.
Did you mean ‘lessens’? It might help them at the start, but it’s not a free pass. They can’t rely on branded traffic alone, even if it helps.
