Got a few questions about how SEO works…

Hi! I don’t know much about SEO and have a few questions. Please let me know if this should be in a different forum. I’m a private tutor and want to make a website soon.

  1. Can I have a web designer make my website and then hire someone else to do SEO on it? Or should this ideally be the same person?

  2. How does SEO work for reaching a specific audience? For example, right now I have a mix of students in my area and others who are geographically far from me. If I made a website aimed at one group, would it be hard to adjust the SEO to try and reach a different audience later?

1- Yes, you can hire a designer and an SEO expert separately (you can also hire an agency or two individuals).

2- The content you add and the links you get will build authority and relevance. Also, Google uses click data and the clickstream from your traffic to understand your site’s topic. If you get links from local sites, like directories, and add content with local area names, you’ll rank for those areas. If you want to rank nationwide, focus on getting links and content that match your broader audience.

You can message me if you need help. I’m both a designer and SEO expert.

What’s your website? What are your rates?

It’s great that you’re thinking of building a website for your tutoring business. Let’s go through your questions:

  1. Website Design and SEO:

You can hire separate people for the design and SEO, but it’s often better if they can work together. A web designer who understands SEO can make sure the site is structured well and optimized from the start, saving time in the long run.

  1. Targeting the Right Audience:

SEO is great for reaching your ideal students. By using the right keywords and optimizing your content, you can attract local students or those looking for online tutoring.

Local SEO: Focus on terms like ‘tutor in [City].’

Virtual SEO: Target terms like ‘online tutor for [City].’

The nice thing about SEO is that you can change your focus later. If you decide to target a different group, just adjust your keywords and content.

I’m a web developer and SEO specialist. If you have more questions or need help with your site, feel free to ask.

I can design a mobile-friendly and SEO-optimized landing page for just $80.

Start by writing about 200 articles on the subjects you want to teach. Learn about keywords and add them to your articles. Use Google Docs to create headings. Once your website is ready, get an SEO expert to publish all 200 articles in a month. Also, use graphical images as feature images and create an ‘Infographics’ category for your academic visuals. Check out Drishti IAS and piyadassi.in websites for reference.

@Lucia
Wow, really? I usually write one article a month because they are long and well-researched.

Maybe that’s why I’m not seeing better results?

I’ve written around 100 articles over the years. Should I now aim for another 200 articles? Even if I use AI, that’s 30 a month, so I’d need to write 5 per day!

@CyberCrusader
You should have prepared beforehand, but it’s not too late to start now.

Got it, but does that mean I need to urgently add 200 articles now?
