Help… How do I start getting better at SEO?

I have two blogs, one about Final Fantasy and another about Star Wars. Most of my traffic comes from social media, but Facebook gives me zero engagement. I’ve had a few clicks from Bing and DuckDuckGo, but absolutely nothing from Google.

I’ve tried to learn SEO, but there’s so much out there, I don’t know where to begin. Any advice would be appreciated.

The key to SEO is writing great content. If it’s useful and good quality, traffic will follow. It just takes time.

Yeah, I’ve only been doing this for a few months. I just hit over 100 visitors and 300 views combined for both blogs this month. Pretty happy with that, but I’m confused why Google hasn’t sent any traffic yet.

@MoffatCousma
Google takes a while to trust new sites—sometimes up to 6 months. You need consistent posts and backlinks to build that trust. The more trusted your site, the higher your rankings and traffic.

@Zack12
Thanks for explaining. I’m posting once a week on the Final Fantasy blog and twice a week on the Star Wars one. Are backlinks just when I share my posts on social media?

Not quite. Backlinks are links from other websites to your site. Social media links don’t count, but they’re good for traffic. For better Google rankings, you need links from reputable sites.

@Zack12
Ah, got it. I didn’t know much about backlinks before. Thanks for the tip .

Social media links won’t help with Google rankings, but they’re still worth doing. Backlinks are when other blogs or websites link to your content. Just be careful with paid backlink offers—they can hurt your site. You can also check this forum for tips on building backlinks naturally.

Thanks a lot. I’ll try to work on building backlinks and will search this forum for more ideas.

Just keep posting more content, too.

I can’t help with SEO, but I made a blog-sharing platform here. You can add your blogs, and we’re working on bringing traffic to independent creators. We don’t steal content, just help readers find you.

@Lilly
Sounds interesting. I’ll check it out.

Facebook is useless now. I have 4,000 followers but barely reach 10 people with posts.

Start by researching keywords. Use free tools like Google Keyword Planner to find what people search for about Final Fantasy and Star Wars. Include those keywords in your titles and content. Also, backlinks from good sites will help. I had low traffic too, but I tried an SEO tool called UnlimitedVisitors_io, and it made a difference for me.

For tracking keywords, I like SERPtag—it’s affordable. If you’ve got the budget, SEMrush or Ahrefs are good too. To boost engagement, experiment with headlines and calls-to-action that appeal to your readers. Google traffic will come with time as you build your site’s authority.

Posting helpful content regularly is the best way to grow as a blogger.

Add a comment section to your blog. People will want to discuss these topics. It’ll make your site more interactive and help with SEO.

Check out the Website Squadron’s SEO support page. It’s got lots of useful info.

Send me your blog link in a private message, and I can give feedback. It might just be a tough niche or something in your content holding you back.

Thanks, I’ll send it over.
