How many of you are working on SEO for Shopify Stores?

What has been the experience with SEO for Shopify stores? Did you handle it yourself or hire someone for it? Just curious to gather some insights.

If you are working on SEO for your Shopify store, whether you should do it yourself or hire someone depends on how much time you have and how comfortable you are with SEO tasks. If you decide to handle it yourself, focus on things like keyword research, optimizing your product pages, and improving your site’s speed. Don’t forget to look into ADA compliance; it’s important for making your site accessible and can also boost your SEO. Tools like the Sirge Alt Text Scan Tool can help ensure your images have proper alt text, which is good for both accessibility and SEO. Take it one step at a time, and best of luck with your store.

I run a Shopify store and handle everything myself. With the help of SaaS tools and AI, it’s much easier to manage everything on my own. Here’s what I do:

  1. I use Ahrefs to ensure my pages have optimized titles and metadata.
  2. I make sure my sitemap is submitted to Google Search Console.
  3. I ensure my product titles, images, and descriptions are well-crafted.
  4. I set up Frizerly AI to publish a weekly blog automatically, covering topics my customers are searching for, with my products naturally linked in the content.

Hope this is helpful.

How successful is your store? Mine has made a few sales but it’s still quiet. I’m looking for success stories to learn from.

I work alone on my e-commerce business, and I do my SEO too. There’s still so much to learn, but sales have been steady, mostly thanks to SEO and social media. I feel like I could boost my sales even more by fixing a few mistakes and improving the flow of things, but I’m learning as I go.

I think I can handle this.

A big part of Shopify SEO is managing the unnecessary URLs that get created by default.

Your results look great. What SEO strategy have you been following?

I’ve done a few things:

  • Pruned content
  • Implemented schema
  • Cleaned up the index
  • Built backlinks
  • Developed topical authority
  • Made changes to the site structure (like shortening URL strings, adding and consolidating categories)
  • Focused on keywords my site is likely to rank for
  • And more

@Layla
I assume you built authority by adding content to collections, products, and blogs, right? How long did it take for the top keywords to rank after making these changes?

Yes, to build topical authority, I focused on content in the collections and blogs. Building authority in general was through backlinks, not just content. It took about 3 to 4 months before I saw top rankings for major commercial keywords. The blogs started ranking high right from the beginning.

What kind of business are you running, if you don’t mind sharing?

The business is in the furniture and home niche, e-commerce.

There isn’t much difference when it comes to content; the only real difference is with backlinks for an e-commerce store.

I’ve been doing Shopify SEO, and my traffic has more than doubled in the past 3 months!

What did you implement to get those kinds of results and sales?

I do SEO for my store.

Why focus only on Shopify SEO? We have clients on WordPress who are successful too, even though we also have Shopify clients.

I don’t hire anyone for SEO.
