Is it still worth monetizing websites in 2025?

Hi everyone! I’ve been on this forum for a while, and I’ve come across some really interesting stuff.

So, as the title says, is monetizing websites still worth it in 2025? Or is it time to move on?

I started working on websites in 2021 with Google AdSense. 2021, 2022, 2023, and even the first half of 2024 were great years. But since the last quarter of 2024, things have become much tougher. I went from earning about $4,000 a month to barely $1,000 on a good month!

Honestly, I’m feeling pretty discouraged and don’t know if I should keep investing time in new blogs or look for something else. What do you think?

How many sessions do you get per month? If it’s over 10k, you should apply for Mediavine. They pay WAY more than Google AdSense. I saw a video where someone said they were earning around $200 a month with AdSense, and it jumped to over $2,000 when they switched to Mediavine with the same traffic.

@James
Just a note, this person had around 50k sessions per month and was using the full Mediavine program, not Mediavine Journey.

Maybe try to improve the quality of your content? But honestly, if you’re at least breaking even, why stop?

It depends on how much time you’re putting in compared to what you’re earning. Is it worth the effort, or could you make the same money doing something else with less work?

I’ll send you a reminder in 14 hours. Hopefully, someone posts something helpful by then!

AdSense isn’t what it used to be. The competition is crazy, and ad revenue for smaller creators has really dropped. Have you thought about diversifying? Maybe try affiliate marketing or sponsored content. If you already have an audience, it might be worth a shot. Don’t give up yet; just focus on what’s working now.

Why is it that now one person can run 100 websites without a team? Can someone explain how this even works?

The most frustrating thing is how much control Google has. You’re always at their mercy if you rely on AdSense.
