My big site has 5k+ articles and no traffic… Should I remove content?

For titles and meta descriptions, is there an automated solution you use? We’ve only got a couple of writers and can only focus on the top 2,000 articles.

  1. Meta descriptions don’t help rankings – Google often rewrites them anyway.

  2. Automating page titles is risky. If you’re thinking about that, you may want to dig deeper into why titles matter.

Just remove anything that’s not getting traffic. Simple as that.

I feel like there’s more to the story here. OP, what kind of site is it? 5k articles not getting traffic seems like a deeper issue.

Totally agree. It’s always more complicated than just deleting pages.

@Jesse
Yup, sounds like a bigger problem for sure. You gotta figure out why those articles tanked first.

Content that doesn’t get traffic could still help support other content on your site. Be careful before just axing them!
