Pinterest blog account with 10 million monthly views

I just want an opinion. I have a self-help/entertainment blog that gets the majority of its traffic from Pinterest. My account is at 10 million plus views, but lately, I am thinking of switching to Instagram, and I feel like I can’t balance both. So I have decided to sell my Pinterest account, minus the blog. People who are in a similar niche would get a huge advantage using that. My question is:

Is it a good idea? Because I spent a lot of time building my audience there, and who knows what if the Instagram idea fails?

How much can I sell an account with 10 million plus views, and where can I sell it?

Edit - after getting roasted in the comments, I realize I should probably work out Instagram before making such a move.

You’re already getting traffic from Pinterest, and now you’re abandoning that for uncharted territory? It’s like replacing a king-sized bed with a sleeping mat. In my case, I’m trying IG, X, Bluesky, Pinterest, Threads, Facebook, and YouTube. So far, IG and Facebook are the weakest, and I’m thinking of ditching them both after a month or two of stagnation. Based on my observation, they require more work in terms of interacting with other people/accounts, and the impressions/reach aren’t that high. Pinterest has the least amount of work in terms of user engagement with your content; just post a photo and you’re done.

Agree with this :fire:, everything you said is true.

If your blog gets traffic from Pinterest, why would you sell the Pinterest account?

Maybe you should try with Instagram first to see if it’s working or not before doing the biggest mistake in your life.

I’m with everyone else in saying this sounds like a big mistake.

What are your outbound clicks?

Don’t do this kind of mistake.

You could hire out Pinterest management. Getting rid of your Pinterest account sounds like a huge mistake.

Try FameSwap. You can sell social accounts on that and can even get an idea of how to price it by looking at others’ prices.

Don’t sell. First, try out if Instagram works for you. If it does, you can sell it, but why sell if it works to get traffic? If you have a hard time managing time, then try to outsource some of the work while keeping ownership of the account.

I would look into social media marketing tools like FeedHive or Hootsuite. I have not used them, but they reportedly help manage posting to multiple social media sites from one interface. That way you don’t have to give up one social media site for another.

How much is your ad revenue?

Instagram is not great at generating outbound clicks, at least not in the same way that Pinterest is. I would hold off on selling your Pinterest until you see how it goes with Instagram.

You can link your Pinterest account to your Instagram, so content posted on Instagram can appear simultaneously on Pinterest too. This way, you can transfer a large portion of your Pinterest traffic to your Instagram without giving up the source that generates the traffic.

I’ll buy it for 5.99.

Let me know if you want a partnership. I’m thinking you should work on SEO instead of Instagram (SEO is much more solid).

It’s a mistake to have all of your eggs in one basket. If you rely on a single third party for all of your traffic, it could end at any time.
