I’m in the process of launching a newsletter/blog that I’ve been wanting to do for quite a while. However, I’m really not looking forward to the feeling of writing into the void with no one to share it with. To avoid that, I built a waitlist page where people can sign up for email updates once I officially launch, but I’m kind of stuck on what to do next.
I’m not sure where to share the waitlist or how to make it more enticing for people to sign up. I’ve seen people mention creating value upfront, but I’m not sure what that should look like for a newsletter/blog that’s still in the works. Does anyone here have any experience with this? I’d love to hear how you managed to get a decent amount of email sign-ups before your blog went live. Any tips and tools?
Hey thea… Congrats on starting your newsletter/blog! One thing that worked for me before launching was offering a free resource related to my niche (like an eBook or checklist). People are more likely to sign up if they feel like they’re getting something valuable upfront. Even if your blog isn’t live yet, you can tease the content or offer insights that would get people excited. Also, don’t underestimate the power of social media…share your sign-up link everywhere and engage with potential readers early
I was in the same boat when I launched my blog last year! One strategy that worked really well was using social proof. I mentioned that I had “X number of people already on the waitlist” (even if it was a small number) to show that there was interest. It helped build curiosity. Another tip is to be active in relevant online communities…Facebook groups, Reddit, forums…where your target audience is already hanging out, and drop your waitlist link in relevant discussions.
To make your waitlist more enticing, you could offer early access to your first blog post or exclusive content that won’t be available to everyone. Also, make sure your landing page is clear and tells potential subscribers exactly what they’ll get and why they should care. Maybe even add a countdown to your launch to create a sense of urgency. As for where to share it, social media is a great starting point, but if you want to go the extra mile, run a small ad campaign to boost visibility.
I totally get the feeling of writing into the void! One thing that helped me was partnering with other small creators who had a similar audience. We did a cross-promotion where they mentioned my waitlist in their content and vice versa. Building that network early can give your newsletter a strong starting base. Also, I recommend using platforms like Twitter and Instagram Stories to give little teasers about what’s to come and link to the waitlist…
Building a pre-launch audience can be tough, but one method I used was creating content that I shared for free, like a series of blog posts or videos, and I included a strong call to action for…
