Has anyone tried using YouTube Shorts or TikTok to boost their blog’s audience? I guess it depends on how young your niche is, but with YouTube Shorts recently enabling monetization, I was thinking of trying this for my brother’s blog.
I receive hundreds of millions of views each month on my TikTok and Pinterest accounts due to my content focus on crafts. Despite this high viewership, the traffic driven to my sites from these platforms is minimal. It really comes down to understanding and targeting the right audience.
It seems like a solid idea in theory, and it can definitely work, but it’s not an easy path. You should aim to make your videos as personal and consistent with your story as possible. From my experience, even though I have three videos on my TikTok page, theurbanfrontiersman, that collectively have 500k views, I received no website visits from them.
Both TikTok and YouTube Shorts have gained significant popularity recently, so the answer is yes, they can be effective for promoting your blog. However, there are some key points to consider. First, understand that TikTok is geared towards creating short, entertaining videos, while YouTube Shorts tends to focus more on educational or informative content. Depending on your blog’s content, one platform might be more appropriate than the other.
Additionally, consider your target audience. TikTok is favored by younger users, while YouTube Shorts tends to attract an older demographic.
You might also explore Instagram for content marketing or use its advertising tools, such as targeted ads or growth services like AscendViral. In summary, using TikTok and YouTube Shorts to promote your blog can expand your reach and boost visibility, but make sure your content is relevant and engaging to retain viewer interest. Keep in mind that these platforms are always evolving, so staying updated on the latest trends and features is crucial.
Would probably be a really low click through rate, I would assume. And then people would bounce quickly. I feel like the attention spans of people are not very long on these platforms. But maybe you could make it work?
