What's Next for My Blog After Stopping Payments?

You can post your content on Medium and keep your profile active there. People on Medium don’t expect regular updates. Plus, your content is secure.

I read that non-members can only view three Medium articles a month. That seems really limiting for building an audience.

You can read all free content on Medium. For paid articles, a premium account is necessary.

If you want your blog to be taken seriously and plan to monetize it, consider buying a domain name and hosting.

For your current blog, you have a few options:

  • Add display ads to cover hosting costs.
  • Include affiliate links, like Amazon Associates, which work well for most topics.
  • Hire someone to create new content.
  • Sell it: Old domains with backlinks and traffic are valuable. You have a blog with traffic that someone could revive or improve.

Thanks for the ideas! I don’t want to purchase a domain or anything since I plan for this to be a small project and not monetized. If I do get a domain, hosting will go away once I stop paying. So I’m looking for something free this time.

Good suggestions for the old blog, thanks! I’ll think about these options.

If you’re getting comments and people are engaging with your blog, why not continue with it and give it a boost?

I can’t do that since I’m no longer in that field. For example, I can’t recommend products I don’t use.

In that case, it might be better to leave that blog and start fresh on a different topic.

That makes sense. I’ll think about it.
