Hey y’all,
I’m about 3 months into my blogging journey, and while I’m still figuring things out, I’m super eager to learn and grow. I’d love to hear from some of you more experienced bloggers—what’s your best advice for someone at my stage?
What do you wish you’d known when you were 3 months in? Are there any mistakes I should avoid or strategies I should start focusing on now? I’m really passionate about my niche, but I want to make sure I’m setting myself up for long-term success.
Blogging is a long game, so be patient and consistent, and things will eventually fall into place. Don’t give up.
Exactly—blogs fail when they lack consistency. You WILL keep getting traffic if you keep putting out high-quality content for years.
Blogs fail because people aren’t consistent. If you keep creating high-quality content over the years, you’ll definitely keep getting traffic.
I’m about 3 years in and just starting to see a little regular traffic, including some from SEO.
It’s kind of wild, honestly—after all this time, it’s still surprising that it’s actually working? LOL. I just keep my head down and keep pushing forward, I guess.
Write about things that make you happy. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that if you want to stick to a consistent schedule and create super engaging content, you’ve gotta care about the topics you’re writing about. Otherwise, you’ll burn out or lose interest in less than a year (trust me, I’ve been there). If you’re passionate about your niche, it’ll totally show in your writing, and that’ll help you connect with other readers who vibe with you and help your blog grow.
I don’t totally agree with that; my niche isn’t something I’m super passionate about. BUT I really enjoy the research and writing process, and I know I’m good at it. I also like messing around with SEO, which has really boosted my viewer counts over time. So, for me, burnout isn’t a problem because, 1. I enjoy blogging about informative stuff thanks to the research, and 2. seeing that growth is really motivating.
Succeeding in blogging is a slow burn. There are a lot of boring days. It’s way better to stick with something you LOVE talking about.
But trust me, the payoff after those boring times will totally be worth it.
Make sure to put out at least one good blog post every week. Use social media to connect with your audience and build loyal followers—don’t just promote your blog; focus on creating value!
