I used to blog profusely and I loved it; it was a cathartic release. Fast forward 20 years ago since I started… I took a brief hiatus to process as abusive relationship — and holy crap! I feel like it’s gone down the drain. Not easy to use and cumbersome. Am I just getting old or is true that Wordpress is starting to suck? If the latter, what blogging software do you recommend as an alternative?
Whoa, I completely understand! After taking a few years off from writing, I felt disoriented when I returned to WordPress. It seems like they added a tonne of functionality without improving the interface’s intuitiveness. If you feel like it’s gotten a little messy, you’re not alone. Have you looked into Ghost? I’ve heard wonderful things about it.
It’s WordPress, not ageing on you! I believe that the Gutenberg editor and all of these add-ons have made things too difficult. Recently, I’ve been using Squarespace, and while there isn’t as much customisation options, it feels much more natural.
Recently, I began to feel the same way about WordPress! It was my first choice until it became so bloated with features I didn’t need. For personal blogging, I moved to Medium, and I appreciate how easy and uncluttered it is. Another bonus is the sense of community!
WordPress has become so bloated with all the themes, plugins, and updates. I recently moved my blog over to Wix, and although it’s more basic in some ways, it’s also way more user-friendly. I miss some of the WP customization, though.
Haha, I thought it was just me getting old too! WordPress has definitely gotten more complicated over the years. I’ve been eyeing Ghost for its simplicity and focus on content creation. Seems like a good alternative if you’re tired of WordPress.
After a lengthy gap, I resumed blogging, and using WordPress felt like solving a riddle! It suddenly seems so bloated. I moved to Squarespace, and even though it has drawbacks, I think that it makes blog management easier and less stressful.
