Ahrefs or Semrush ... Which SEO tool should I pick?

Hi everyone, I’m new to SEO and I’m trying to decide between Ahrefs and Semrush. Which one is better for beginners?

Both are good. I personally prefer Ahrefs.

Both tools are good, but it depends on what you need. They are great for established websites that want to check backlinks, analyze competitors, and find content gaps. If you’re just starting, you might need other tools like one to help you create SEO content, a plugin for internal linking, and a tool for building backlinks automatically. Once you have more pages and links, then Ahrefs or Semrush could be useful. Let me know if you want more help on getting started.

Good advice, but do people even like AI-generated SEO content anymore? I tried both tools and the content often has too much fluff and mistakes, which is disappointing. I would suggest beginners use these tools but not rely on them completely. You need to make many changes to improve the quality, or else it won’t work well with Google’s updates.

@Joy
Absolutely. Use these AI tools to get an idea for an article, then edit it yourself to improve the writing and remove any unnecessary parts.

You have great advice for starting with SEO. As a beginner, focus on the basics before using Ahrefs or Semrush. It’s easy to get distracted by advanced tools when you need a good content strategy first. Tools like Koala Writer can help create lots of content, which is important at the start. Yoast is great for internal linking and improved site structure. Once your site is solid, Ahrefs or Semrush can help you grow. If you need more information, UsePulse is good for tracking trends and discussions on this forum. It’s worth trying after you set up your initial strategies. Your SEO journey will get easier!

They are both good. Many people find Ahrefs easier to use, while some think Semrush provides more detailed information if you explore its features.

Sorry if this sounds rude, but this question has been asked many times already. Try using the search feature.

Both tools are great. I prefer Semrush because it offers a full set of tools. They are good not only for keyword research but also for competitor and market analysis. Neither is a bad choice, but I favor Semrush.

I prefer Ahrefs for their more detailed data, but their pricing is quite high.

They have just introduced a cheaper plan.

I tried the cheaper plan but had to upgrade to use it effectively. Now I can’t access other useful information because I’m not spending more. As I mentioned, they are good at getting the most from their customers.

You can choose Ahrefs’ $29 plan; you can trust its data. On the other hand, Semrush plans are quite expensive.

Astrologers have declared ‘Ahrefs vs Semrush’ for the year…

If you’re new, it’s better to start with affordable tools. You might not be able to use these expensive tools fully. You can choose Ahrefs’ $29/month package, Ubersuggest, or SEranking.

Ahrefs

Ahrefs any time.

Both Ahrefs and Semrush are great SEO tools, but it depends on what you need.

  • Ahrefs is excellent for backlink analysis, content research, and keyword tracking.
  • Semrush has more varied features like site audits, PPC data, and social media tools.

If you’re focused on link building and content, choose Ahrefs. For a more complete platform with SEO, PPC, and site audits, Semrush might be better. Both have free trials, so try them to see which works best for you!
