Any reputable SEO companies to help my small business rank higher?

I am looking for a company or individual skilled in website design and SEO to help my small business rank higher on Google. I’ve looked through countless options, but I’m not sure who to trust. Any suggestions?

It would help if you share your industry and budget. I’d suggest avoiding random Reddit recommendations and instead look for well-reviewed agencies or try Upwork.

Thanks! I’m mostly trying to speak with people who have experience in this area so I can get a feel for different methods. I’m also trying to spot any potential scams.

@yvonena
That’s smart. Be cautious; there are people here who aren’t qualified but still offer services. Check their activity on SEO topics and see if they’re offering value or just asking basic questions. When hiring, ask for proof of past success.

@Lilly
Extremely helpful advice—thank you!

I’d be interested in helping. You can find my portfolio at matthewwoodard.com.

I run a small agency focused on a few clients at a time. We offer affordable SEO and web design, but specifics like goals, niche, and competition all play a part in our approach.

If you’re targeting consumers (B2C), an online shop setup could be useful. Be wary of web designers who aren’t familiar with SEO. Google Ads (PPC) can be effective while working on organic SEO. A well-structured website with a blog helps too.

Thank you. Would you suggest a web designer for the technical setup? I’ve heard that some designers set things up in ways that make you reliant on them for updates ($$).

Some do, yes. If possible, find someone transparent who will show you how to make simple updates yourself. I’d be happy to chat more—just let me know!

@EvansBrown13
That would be great. Thank you!

If possible, find a company that specializes in your niche. For example, a friend of mine owns a moving company and works with Rotate Digital, who only does SEO for moving companies. Specialized agencies often know the best approaches.

@Brandy
Good idea, thanks.

Here are some options:

  • SmartSites: Best overall
  • Victorious: Best for new websites
  • WebFX: Best for affordable monthly SEO
  • OuterBox: Best for e-commerce
  • SEO Brand: Best for reputation management
  • Funnel Boost Media: Best for local SEO

@MysteryMaverick
Thank you! This is really helpful.

I’ve used SmartSites, but had issues with their SEO quality. Recently switched to WebFX, and things are improving. PPC was good with SmartSites, but the SEO wasn’t working for us.

We’re with SmartSites and also noticing some issues. Did you find WebFX a better fit for SEO?

@SHAWN
Yes, WebFX has been great so far. Their approach has been more effective, and we’re finally seeing positive SEO results.
