Any small thing you did that gave a big boost to your SEO and surprised you?

A few years back, I managed to double my organic traffic just by responding to comments in a thoughtful and helpful way.

What about you? Got any tips that worked without needing blackhat tricks?

I created some business accounts and used them like personal ones, joining discussions and dropping backlinks where it made sense.

Tried this recently but the new sub I made got locked right away. I have no clue why, and forum support has been no help.

@Jason
Your account needs to have some karma and regular activity before starting a sub. It helps a lot.

Ah, didn’t know that. Now the sub name I wanted is taken. Any ideas on how to get it released? I could use my old account to make it active and bring the business account later.

@Jason
Honestly, I just use my old main account for work-related stuff and mod the business account afterward.

Yeah, but how do I get the suspended sub name back so I can create it with my account in good standing?

@Jason
Try asking on r/redditrequest and hope for the best.

I’ve thought about doing this, but how can you come off as an expert in an industry you don’t fully understand?

@Sadie
If the person managing the account doesn’t know the topic well, it’s better not to do this. You’ll just end up looking like another corporate account and get downvoted. A better idea is to use a personal profile, share snippets from your site, and let your profile link do the work. Some subs, like r/blog, allow backlinks too if you really need one.

I did something similar but used SEOCopilot to track links and indexing while chatting in other forums. Just being helpful and dropping links where it fit gave my site a steady boost.

@Nina
Slightly off-topic, but how was SEOCopilot? I got stuck setting it up when it asked for full GSC permissions and couldn’t find any reviews.

For me, optimizing internal links worked wonders. I went back to old content and added links to new posts, which kept users on my site longer. Google seemed to like that structure. Have you tried this approach?

Wait… How exactly did replying to comments improve your organic traffic?

It was a pet-related site. Pet owners always had questions, and replying to comments kept the content fresh. It signaled to search engines that my site was active and useful.

@Apollo
Nice! Did you add keywords to your replies, or was it just natural conversation?

@Apollo
I bet it also kept people coming back to check for new replies.

If you’re after referral traffic, try to leverage forums. Some rank really well on search engines. Find keywords where the forum ranks high and join the conversation. If Google gives that URL top placement, it’ll get backlinks, too, boosting your traffic further.

@Pulse4
Yeah, that method really works right now.

Here’s a simple but effective SEO routine: Go to Google Search Console, check your lowest-performing pages, and either improve or noindex them. It’s a slow process, but it makes a big difference over time.
