Anyone else confused about Ireland tax info for YouTube earnings?

Adsense is asking me to submit a form with something called a Certificate of Residence. I’ve never heard of this before and don’t have it. They’re saying that payouts could be delayed if this isn’t submitted, but I’ve seen people online saying it’s only for website ads (which I don’t run) and doesn’t matter for YouTube earnings.

Others are saying they requested this certificate from HMRC and haven’t gotten it after months of waiting. I’ve already done the US tax info form, so I don’t understand why this Ireland tax form is being added.

Does anyone here know if I actually need to do this or if it’s fine to ignore it? Appreciate any advice!

Here’s what the AdSense help center says about submitting non-US tax info:

The important part for your question says this:

What happens if I don’t complete this form?

Your payouts might have a higher tax deduction if local laws require taxes to be withheld.

Note: Not completing this won’t cause account limits or stop your payouts. If anything changes, Google will notify you.

Thanks so much for clearing that up!

It’s just a normal thing. You don’t need to worry about it.

What do you mean by that? I got the same message and I’m worried it might mess up my payments.

Just fill it out, and it’ll get approved right away. If you’re not living in Ireland, it won’t affect you.

Thanks for the advice! What if I just ignore it? I haven’t done anything about it for months, and nothing bad has happened yet.

You can ignore it for now, but it’s better to complete it. Google needs this to comply with Ireland’s tax rules. Any payments going from Ireland to other countries require Google to handle this paperwork.

If you leave it, payments might eventually be held up. I filled mine out six months ago, and everything’s been smooth since. Hope this helps! :blush::heart:

@Dojacat
It does, thanks a lot!
