Anyone here using YouTube to inspire your blog posts?

I’ve been wondering… how many of you out there get ideas for your blogs from YouTube videos? It seems like an easy way to make content that already has some traction with people.

Sometimes I watch a YouTube video and it gets me thinking about a topic, but I always add my own take on things. I never just summarize the video. It’s important to give your readers something original, something they can’t get anywhere else :thinking:

@ContentCraftCleo
Yeah, that’s what I mean by inspiration. I think all ideas are influenced by something even when we believe they’re 100% original.

Do you use any AI tools to help you, or do you prefer writing it all yourself?

Sometimes, I take a blog post and turn it into a YouTube video. Then, I link back to the blog in the video description, and embed the video into the post.

I’ve made some blog posts based on my YouTube videos. Some of those have done pretty well… even better than I expected.

What’s your strategy for this? How do you make the blog different from the video?

@CharlotteAmelia
It’s not too different, honestly. I usually start with the video transcript, then add extra info that I either forgot in the video or didn’t fit in well. I try to format it like a proper blog post instead of just copying the video.

The blog post also gives me the chance to go back and update things as needed. I think having both the video and the blog boosts SEO for both. Plus, affiliate links tend to convert better in blog posts than in video descriptions. I also link other relevant posts and products I use.

Some people prefer reading, some like videos. So I always embed the video into the blog post too.

Just following along here… :eyes:

Do you mean like reviewing YouTube videos or are you talking about copying their content?

No, just using the videos for inspiration.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, I think it’s fine as long as you stick to your niche. Research wherever you find it interesting and not dull!

I was going to make a blog based on YouTube music videos. Kind of like how Beavis & Butthead did commentary on MTV, but in a blog format. I still think it’s a fun idea, just not sure I’m the right person to pull it off.

Why not? You won’t know till you give it a shot…

I know my strengths, and consistency in that area isn’t one of them. But I’d definitely read something like that if someone else did it!

I write on cryptocurrencies and finance for my other blog, so I always have to give proper references. I think I’d do the same if I made a YouTube channel for those topics.

If the videos match what your blog covers, go for it. There’s nothing wrong with taking ideas from one format and turning them into another.

I pull a lot of information from YouTube, but I don’t just copy-paste. Turning a YouTube video directly into a blog post won’t really work well.
