Can a typo in my business website's domain hurt my SEO… What can I do about it?

So I just noticed my website, peaceandharmonycounesling.com, has a typo in the domain name. I’m wondering how much this affects my SEO, and if there are any ways to fix it without losing traffic?

Get the correct domain, move everything there, and add a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new one. That should cover everything.

If your site is new, consider getting the correct name and redirecting from the old to the new. If you’ve got decent SEO already, you might want to get an experienced SEO expert to make sure the switch goes smoothly. Traffic can dip during this kind of change. Also, shorter domain names are easier for people to remember and type.

Just buy a new domain and transfer your content. Do you really need to stick with the typo version?

I’ve had to buy another domain due to a spelling error before. My suggestion: recreate the site on the new domain, add canonical tags to both versions, then 301 redirect to the new one. How long has your site been live?

If you just got this domain, maybe talk to your domain provider to see if they can cancel it and refund you or apply the payment toward the right domain.

Domain names aren’t usually that pricey.

Main question is… Is the correct spelling of the domain still available?

If the right domain is available, buy it and set up a 301 redirect. If not, your SEO won’t really suffer, but it’s not ideal for branding either.

Domain names don’t actually affect SEO, but for branding, it’s best to use the correct one. Just register the right name and switch.

Setting up a 301 redirect to the correct domain is definitely the way to go here.

Agreeing with others here. The typo might confuse users, and people may think it’s an error if they see it in search results. If you’re able to get the right domain, do it now while the site is still new. If .com isn’t available, maybe consider a slight adjustment to the name.

Your domain isn’t going to ruin your SEO. Just focus on using the right keywords and optimizing content on your homepage and other pages. But if you prefer a domain without the typo, go ahead and get it, then use a 301 redirect to the new domain.
