Can You Really Recover From HCU

In a recent event, Pandu Nayak mentioned that he can’t guarantee if you’ll recover or not.

Some attendees shared a statement from the founders of Google Search:

“Move on, some will recover but not everyone.”

I’ve posted images and conversations on my profile. Please check them out to learn more. I couldn’t share the image or link here for some reason. Move on… I feel like I’m going to break something today…

If this forum keeps its algorithm the same, many people might switch to ChatGPT, DuckDuckGo, or Bing. I’ve seen more of my clients using other search engines. With AI becoming more common, the forum’s algorithm doesn’t seem as smart.

@Trevor
I’ve switched to ChatGPT for most searches and have been working on managing AI’s reputation.

What do you mean by managing AI’s reputation?

I heard someone talk about this recently. There’s more use of Perplexity and I think ChatGPT also launched a search engine today.

Try perplexity.ai. It’s pretty good, better than this forum.

@Trevor
I think there will be another update soon. He said it’s for better quality. We’re doing it for better search quality…

Dude, I’m sorry. Years ago, Rand Fishkin saw the signs, and at the time, we thought he was wrong. Now, the money went away. Rand was right. They turned the internet into a closed system and are excluding everyone who doesn’t help them make money. It’s not ‘our internet’ anymore.

@Evannah
I remember seeing his report about zero clicks

I don’t trust what the forum’s engineers say because many of them seem out of touch with what users need. It will benefit you to show people what they want and reach them directly. I don’t expect long articles with many keywords to come back. Good luck getting rid of them. If your plan relies only on this forum, expect big problems later.

@Curry
That’s true. I checked the SEO Volatility score and found only a few niches were doing well, like real estate. Others, like food and travel blogs, were struggling. A user from Malaysia said their recipe blogs disappeared from search because they focused only on this forum.

@SavvyGenX
For over 20 years, we’ve seen changes as the forum updates its search. They want to see what’s popular for each search. If your page covers something briefly, it might lower the quality of the rest of your content. It’s better to have separate pages for related content. John Mueller says this takes about 90 days, but our reports show it’s always changing. If your content is good, make it shorter and easier to read. Avoid AI-filled articles!

@Curry
You’re right, but recent reports show big changes. A few weeks ago in UK search, not even the forum’s search console was ranking. It was a thread on the forum about the search console that was ranking.

@SavvyGenX
I’ve seen this a lot lately. Forum posts asking for information are ranking higher than the actual information sources.

@Curry
Same here. It sounds like they’re trying to control the damage, telling everyone to expect the worst. They probably trained their team before the event.

What does the forum’s spokesperson say about the message from the leaders?

LOL.

The forum search isn’t working well. Yandex search works better. My website’s search terms show up on Yandex, but not on the forum.
