ChatGPT Now Has Its Own Search Engine… What Do You Think?

Hey everyone, I saw that ChatGPT has launched its own search engine. I’m curious to hear your experiences and thoughts on it.

Actually, it’s quite good. No spam ads from search engines and no links from forums. It cites sources well and doesn’t just focus on big sites. I’m impressed. Hopefully, it will start to take some search traffic away from Google. It might take a few months though since it’s only for paid ChatGPT users for now. I’m sure they’ll add new features to the search over time.

only for paid ChatGPT users for now

I’m using the free version and I can use SearchGPT right now.

I agree, it’s a good experience. No ads or unwanted forum results. I wish the AI message that appears first was shorter, and that the list of sources/search results wasn’t hidden behind a click. I prefer how Perplexity’s interface shows links at the top, formatted as several “cards”.

@Lucia
Maybe you signed up for the SearchGPT waiting list. Those people also got access.

What’s your plan for optimizing? Do you need to be the top ranking or just get some traffic?

Look into GEO tactics, which stands for generative engine optimization.

@Hazel
I’m in paid media and I really prefer this experience.

@Hazel
Can you share any search result screenshots? I don’t have the paid version.

After many updates, Google has messed up its relevant Algorithm. To compete with ChatGPT, it is harming its own system. Now it seems Google Search gives poor results. Now webmasters and site owners will promote Bing and the future is with Bing. And of course, ChatGPT data will definitely help Bing Search.

@Tivah
Google made their search worse on purpose to increase the total number of searches and to make users spend more time on the page, likely to view or click ads.

People really dislike Google, and their phones have become worse too.

@Tivah
I believe it still uses Google though. I think it just combines different sources.

I doubt it, the results are relevant. I’ve had worse luck finding anything on Google recently. It’s really bad, especially given their position in the market.

And Google noticed the trouble is here and I’m so glad. I hate monopolies. Now we need to suggest this to other users.

Same for one of my clients. It was a specific search, but it worked.

I run a removals business. They searched for the best removals company in Dublin and ChatGPT listed me as the second best. This person doesn’t use Google anymore, just Bing.

How?

Probably because of an article ChatGPT read that places us as the second best removals service in the area.
