Creating long-form content is hard?

I used to love writing long-form content—1500+ word blog posts that really delved into topics I was passionate about. However, lately, I find myself struggling to muster the energy to tackle such extensive pieces. Even with GPT available to help, I feel stuck and uninspired.

I miss the satisfaction of completing a comprehensive article, but the motivation just isn’t there anymore. It’s frustrating, especially since I know there’s a wealth of information I want to share.

Does anyone have tips or strategies for reigniting that spark? How do you overcome the fatigue of writing long-form content?

Honestly, using GPT too much has made writing harder for me instead of easier. I write 2-4 posts of 1,500 words each week. What really helped was using GPT to create an outline and then writing the article myself. When I relied on GPT for everything, I spent hours fixing bad content and never felt good about what I was submitting, which made it harder to start.

But once I used GPT as a helper instead of the main tool, I got my spark back. I hope this helps you, and good luck…

I avoid writing everything in one sitting because it drives me crazy, and I burn out quickly (I don’t even use AI). Instead, I write one or two sections each day, depending on their length. For example, I recently wrote a long review of about 3,700 words. Today, I focused on the introduction and how X works, and tomorrow I’ll tackle the features.

This approach doesn’t feel overwhelming. Sometimes I want to write more than two sections because I’m still mentally fresh, but I hold back. I ended up finishing the review in less than a week.

Long-form content often ranks higher in search results because search engines like Google see it as providing more value and insights on a topic. However, not every topic is suitable for a longer post. It’s important to understand the value and message you want to share before you start writing. AI can really help by saving us time and assisting in the writing process.

The best way is to divide article writing into smaller tasks. You can write 500 words/ day…a 1500 article will take 3 days to complete

It’s completely normal to feel that way… Try setting smaller goals, like writing shorter posts or outlines, to ease back into it. Experimenting with different formats, like lists or Q&A style, can make things more fun and fresh. Jot down ideas whenever inspiration strikes, and remember to take breaks to recharge your creativity. Sometimes stepping away for a bit can really help reignite your passion for writing…

Start sharing shorter pieces. It will help you get into a rhythm. Also, sometimes I get frustrated trying to force the length of an idea and only later I realize it would have been better to go with a simpler approach.

Off the top of my head, I’d suggest splitting long-form pieces into smaller posts. Once you do that, write one shorter post for each part. You can either combine them all into a longer post once they’re done or make it a multi-part series. While doing this, you might find that you want to write several parts in a row, which could help you regain that spark…
