I’ve been writing articles for a while now and I’ve seen mixed approaches when it comes to concluding them. Some writers use a dedicated H2 header like “Conclusion” at the end of their posts, while others simply end with a final paragraph or a different style of summary.
I’m curious: do you include a “Conclusion” header in your articles? Why or why not? And by that, I specifically mean an H2 that explicitly says “Conclusion.”
If you don’t use one, how do you usually wrap up your article? Do you have a particular way of summarizing or making a closing argument without it?
Include a clickable TLDR at the top that links to each section. Label the final section as “Recommendations,” offering actionable insights. Make sure to include a strong Call to Action in your recommendations.
I used to include a conclusion, but I stopped once ChatGPT started generating blog posts. Whenever I see a “Conclusion” section now, I skip it. I find there’s no value in reading AI-generated wrap-ups.
Nah, at most I try to summarize my point at the very end of the article. If the title doesn’t catch the attention, I don’t think the reader will get second toughts from a flashy H2 right below
I do, but I don’t always label it as “Conclusion.” Sometimes I use titles like “Final Thoughts,” “Next Steps,” or something similar. But, yes, there’s usually some sort of closing section.
I only include a conclusion when there’s a meaningful point to make. Not for something like “So in conclusion, these were the top 5 pencils that are most fun to write with,” but definitely if it’s more substantial, like “So next time you do X, remember that XYZ.”
I ask a thought provoking question alongside a similar post. Not for comments as these are turned off but to get the reader thinking and exploring more content for the answers.
The H2 header doesn’t have to be titled “Conclusion”; it could be “Final Thoughts,” “To Summarize,” “Key Points,” or something similar. The reader will understand that it’s the concluding section regardless of the specific wording.
An apt variation would seem more natural I think. An H2 titled Conclusion sort of betrays its authenticity, for some weird reason I cannot explain very well.
I almost always include a conclusion—sometimes it’s just “Conclusion,” and other times I add a semicolon followed by a more descriptive sub-heading. Since I write long-form articles, it helps provide a clear wrap-up.
