Hey…need some help… bought an expired domain but just found out it belongs to an investment fund… what should I do?

So I grabbed this domain after it expired, but turns out it used to belong to an investment fund. Am I in the clear to keep it? Anyone got advice?

If it expired and you bought it, it’s pretty much fair game. You could even offer to sell it back to them for a nice price if they care.

Yeah, I get that, but part of me is a bit nervous… maybe you’d be interested in buying it and handling it?

@YukiJane
There’s no need to worry. People grab expired domains all the time, even ones from big organizations. If it was available, it’s yours now.

@YukiJane
What exactly are you worried about?

You bought it fair and square. If it expired, it’s yours now. Is there anything specific you’re worried about?

You’re in a good spot. You could keep it or see if they want to buy it back at a higher price.

It’s just that this fund is worth a lot, maybe even hundreds of millions. But I guess since I registered it legally, there shouldn’t be any issues, right?

@YukiJane
You know what, if you want, I could buy it off you and we’ll split any profit from selling it to them later 50/50. Let me know.

I’ll message you about this.

Nice… could you even make it your own little investment fund?

I wish I had that kind of money… I’ll probably try selling it, but I’m not sure where to start or what it’s worth.

Think of it like renting a place—once someone stops paying, it goes to someone else. They let it go, so it’s fair game. The only thing that would’ve been shady is if they were actively using it when you bought it the moment it expired, but it seems like they just didn’t want it. You could always offer it back to them.

Have they reached out to you at all?
