Hi everyone, I run a small agency and I’m considering charging $1000 a month for a 6-month SEO package. The package includes things like on-page optimization, content creation, backlink building, and monthly reporting.
What do you think, is this price too much or does it seem reasonable for businesses?
You could calculate how many hours you’ll spend on the site and multiply it by your hourly rate… these marketing packages from agencies often seem unclear. Once you know that, you can explain to the client why the price is what it is.

As an agency owner, that price is fair if they deliver results.
It’s hard to judge without more context. $1000 a month is unlikely to get 25 quality backlinks plus social media content if you’re targeting competitive markets. For low-competition goals, this could work.
The price of $1000 a month seems reasonable, but it depends on the results you deliver. For $1000 a month, I would manage the site, write about a dozen AI-generated articles, post daily on social media, run an email campaign, and handle the SEO work (technical, local, on-page, backlinks). If they wanted, I’d also do bi-weekly reporting and offer weekly calls. For $1500, I’d add promo videos and manage a PPC campaign too.
Are you based in Canada or the US? Is this just for local SEO? Do you handle technical SEO too? Either way, $1000/month seems cheap. Content creation and optimization alone take up a lot of time. And 25-30 quality backlinks per month is a lot, especially at that price. My agency charges much more, and we’re cautious about promising backlinks because they’re hard to get and don’t always bring traffic. We’ve started focusing more on DPR.
In the end, if you can deliver results and drive traffic, then $1000/month is a good deal. It’s different if you’re just starting out though.
Where are you from? Small businesses are usually fine with spending $1k-$5k a month on content marketing packages (for example, $3k for a couple of videos for an ad). But $1000 for six months of SEO seems underpriced to me.
