Should I Start a Blog? Need Some Advice on My Ideas and Plans

I’m a 26-year-old mother with almost six kids. I got my bachelor’s in business marketing and accounting, then a master’s in accounting by the time I was 23. I also managed to get my CPA in just four months, all while raising my children. During this time, two of my sons were diagnosed with autism, and I worked hard using natural methods to help them with body and brain balances. It was incredibly tough, but I was able to help them both make amazing progress, including one son who was nonverbal at age 3, and by age 5, he could communicate and live a normal life without any delays.

In a couple of weeks, I’ll have six kids under 6 years old! With my background, I know a lot about kids, development, pregnancy, postpartum care, tax accounting, auditing, and autism, plus I dabble in photography for fun.

So… should I start a blog? And can it eventually make money? If so, what should it focus on? Is there a way I could stand out from all the other blogs? Also, if I were to sell digital products, what would you be interested in from my experience? I currently work full-time as a CPA auditor in a public accounting firm, but I’d love to eventually be able to stay home and have more time with my kids and a little more time for myself. What’s your take?

It’s not really up to us if you should blog. It’s all about what you want.

Here’s a few things to think over:

  • Brand: What values does your blog represent? What message do you want to put out there?
  • Audience: Who are you talking to? For example, you might want to reach women around 30 who work from home and are new mums struggling with mental health.

Once you know these things, you can build a theme for your blog, choose colors, and think about the design.

After that, it’s all about consistency. Try to find a posting schedule that works for you.

Once you’ve got around 30 or so articles, you can start thinking about affiliate programs, like Mediavine or Google Ad sense.

Hope this gives you some pointers .

Thanks, this does help a lot! I’m wondering if I should focus on mothers around 28–40, share my story, and give tips on overcoming challenges, along with advice on motherhood. Just not sure if my story will be enough to stand out or if it’s already a crowded area.

That’s a great idea! I’m actually planning to start a wellness blog myself about spiritual stuff, animal guides, wellness tips, and pet care.

That sounds awesome! I hope it all goes well for you. I’m pretty new to this so I’m not sure where to start.

@Pulse4
I’d say begin by knowing exactly who you’re writing for and why you want to start a blog. And a little advice—don’t just go for money, because it can take time to start seeing any. Make sure you love what you’re sharing.

@Reese
Definitely agree. I’d actually like to write a book about my journey too, since people often ask me about how I helped my sons. This would be something I can hopefully grow into and do long term. Just wondering if it’s realistic with my time and if it’ll be worth it down the line.

@Pulse4
We should totally connect! I actually do ghostwriting for a living besides blogging :slight_smile:

Why not consider making YouTube videos? Blogging doesn’t make much money even if you have a large following, like 25k visitors.

Thanks for suggesting that

Not another blog saying they can cure autism… that’s misleading.

Yes, I think you should definitely give it a try.

If you’ve got the niche and the drive, go for it.
