What are the best ways to learn more about SEO?

Hey there! I’m looking for ways to improve my SEO knowledge and I’m struggling to find good resources. If anyone has suggestions for podcasts or other types of content that stay up to date with the latest SEO trends, I would love to hear them. Whether it’s content optimization, technical SEO, or how to stay ahead of changes to Google’s algorithm, anything helpful would be appreciated.

Bonus if it’s beginner-friendly but also goes deeper into more advanced topics as you progress. Thanks .

Make a website and experiment with it. You will learn SEO way better that way.

Best advice! Definitely the best way to get hands-on experience.

I learned a lot from YouTube and following this forum.

You should check out https://learningseo.io. After that, try creating your own website to apply everything you’ve learned. Maybe even start a project around something you’re passionate about, so you can eventually make money off it. I think that’s one of the best ways to learn SEO.

For beginners, the Ahrefs videos are pretty good. After that, I’d suggest getting books. Nothing beats books for learning.

Good point! Do you have a specific book in mind that’s helpful?

@BloggingBuddy
I haven’t found any that are super unique yet. Most of them are quite similar. Just pick the top-rated ones on Amazon.
The good thing about books is that they help you stay on track with a structured plan. With YouTube, it’s easy to get distracted. A book will guide you to plan your site, keywords, and content strategy, which is really important.

I can suggest my free tool seo-checklist.app.

Budget options:

  • Read all of Google’s free SEO documentation.
  • Build websites and experiment with your ideas.
    • You can launch free sites with Cloudflare Pages.
    • Custom domains like .party are $5/year.
    • If you’re unsure how to build websites, try the Astro framework. It’s simple and SEO-friendly, and it helps you understand basic HTML.

GrumpySEOguy is a great no-BS podcast.

Some good advice here. For everything related to local SEO, check out Chris Palmer on YouTube. He shares a lot of useful tips.

Following! I’d love to know more about this too.

I’m also interested! I mostly get my info from random YouTube searches and SEMRush articles. I’d love to find something I can listen to in the background.
For marketing/social trends, I find the free HeyOrca community helpful, but they don’t cover SEO. It’d be amazing if I could find a free newsletter or podcast like that for SEO trends.

  1. Download Screaming Frog and fix the issues.

  2. Use Google Keyword Planner to find keywords for your content, and assign specific keywords to each page.

  3. Check who ranks for those keywords and look at their title tags and H tag structure.

  4. Update your content by combining info from top-ranking pages.

  5. Start doing outreach for backlinks.

Lol at the people who downvoted someone just because they said SEO isn’t all about a software system and SEO experts shouldn’t be afraid of Google. It’s not like Google is the internet police, but that’s how SEO is often sold to people.

Youtube, blogs, and joining communities to ask questions and practice on real projects is great. You can also join agencies as a VA or project manager to learn how they handle real projects. That way, you get to see the process and learn a lot before starting your own.

On the Website Squadton website, there’s a page called Website SEO Support. Check it out for a lot of useful information.

I’ve been in SEO for a long time and just found Google’s Off The Record podcast. So far, I’m really enjoying it. It seems good for all levels, and I’ve found the episodes to be full of solid, reliable info.

Youtube and running your own tests. Google changes all the time, so testing things yourself is key if you want to succeed.
