What’s the Toughest Part About Blogging for You?

Hey all, I’m new to blogging and finding some parts of it pretty hard… just curious, what struggles do you face?

Some of my issues are:

Content Creation: Finding fresh ideas gets tough. I feel like I’m constantly running out of new things to write about.

Building an Audience: Growing my blog is moving slowly. I’m not sure how to get more readers.

Consistency: Balancing writing with other commitments is really challenging.

SEO: SEO is confusing, and I worry that my posts won’t reach enough people.

Self-Doubt: Sometimes I wonder if my writing is even good enough or if people care.

How about you? What’s been your biggest challenge with blogging? Any advice would be awesome!

I started blogging back in February but ended up stopping because I missed the advice that everyone seems to give here – start a blog on something you actually enjoy.

Make sure it’s a topic you genuinely care about. Also, don’t expect much traffic for at least a year.

Consider using Medium to link back to your blog.

Having a YouTube channel can also build trust with Google, plus it lets you show credibility on your topic. Sharing links to your blog in other YouTube videos can help too.

LinkedIn is good for backlinking as well; Google seems to value it highly.

If you’re serious about your blog, try press releases or reach out for syndication.

And don’t skip on forum opportunities… AI is using content from here, so your blog could get lasting exposure that way.

Building an audience is my main issue. Since my blog is poetry-focused, I really need to find readers who love that kind of content.

Same here…

I struggled for weeks getting my pages indexed by Google. Now that it’s working, my focus has shifted to finding ways to get more engagement.

There are two main issues with blogging:

  • Coming up with ideas and writing content itself.
  • Ranking on Google.

AI tools like ChatGPT have made writing easier, but they’ve also increased competition massively. Now everyone can create posts, so many areas will get overcrowded fast.

It’s all about finding a niche or specific topics that won’t get too crowded, so you still have a chance to stand out.

Quality backlinks are hard to get as a new blogger. You could have the best content, but if people don’t see it, you won’t get those valuable links.

The main struggle for me is what blogging has turned into.

Now it’s 99.5% about being productive, SEO, and making money. Where did all the creativity go?

People used to have fun making personal sites, focusing on design, custom layouts, and just sharing whatever they wanted. But now there’s this constant push to fit in, follow trends, and optimize for keywords so Google notices you.

It feels sad that ‘content creation’ is even a thing now… we used to just call it art.

I want to start blogging but have so many questions! I posted once asking for advice, but it got auto-deleted because of my comment karma. Can someone explain what that means? I’m really hoping to get some help.

@WilliamMia
There’s a rule in this forum about comment karma. You need a certain amount to post.

But you can still ask questions in the biweekly thread if you’d like .

My main struggle is finding a topic that people actually want to follow.

SEO is tough for me. I’ve done all the basics, but still not getting many clicks. Impressions are growing, though, so I hope that’s a good sign? The blog’s only about 5 months old.

When Google suddenly drops your rankings out of nowhere…

Yeah, that’s all part of the process :joy:

For me, it’s keeping up consistency. My day job also involves writing, so it gets tiring. Plus, my blog is about things to do, eat, and see in my city, so it takes extra time to explore and take photos.

It’s all about finding the time .

SEO… as a beginner, I’m not sure how to get my blog on Google even though it seems there’s some interest out there.

Blogging is just… a lot.

You said the blogging process is hard overall. Are you following any specific strategies to try to get past these issues?

Yeah, I’m working on building something that’ll help make daily or consistent writing easier.
