What Should I Be Doing Other Than Indexing On Google

I’m hearing a lot that Google can be…something with the updates. Right now, I’m only checking the Google Search Console.

My blog was created using next.js and deployed with Vercel. I tweak the site regularly.

I just started my blog separate from Medium in June. I try to write consistently. Based on the Google Search Console, I’m getting 5 clicks every 7 days or so, around 100 impressions, and with 20 articles indexed.

My blog is on programming related stuff.

What else should I be doing? Is Google indexing it?

It is not Google’s responsibility to increase blog traffic. It is Google’s responsibility to assist users in finding what they’re looking for. It’s possible that they’re not interested in your blog.

In order for Google to suggest your blog to its readers, you must either find a means to market your blog and grow a following (maybe on social media) or find a way to establish credibility for yourself (recommendations from highly rated websites, or what’s known in the SEO industry as backlinks).

Do you additionally create backlinks pointing to your website? This is something more you’ll have to do if you want more traffic from Google.

Researching keywords is essential. Are you blogging about what readers in your niche are looking for? Do other blogs score similarly highly for those keywords in terms of authority?

In addition to indexing, you should try to find out which keywords you are truly ranking for so that you may better optimise for them. You can get a better picture of this without too much trouble if you use tools like SERPtag. Perhaps you should also look at the UX, performance, and number of backlinks to your website. Over time, such factors assist Google in perceiving your blog as more authority. Continue, and the clicks will follow.
